Whether you are looking for locks for small or large properties, limited service or full service, Miwa has all the solutions for your security needs.
The AW2H lock has passed the ANSI 156.25 lock standard, making it a true Grade 1 electronic mortise lock which is manufactured in their ISO9001 and ISO14001 certified factories in Japan
Guest Security
The AW2H lock case has a three piece 3/4 inch (19mm) latch, a hardened one inch (25.4mm) steel deadbolt and an anti-pick latch that prevents the lock case from being tampered with whilst the door is closed.
Power Supply
Though operating on only 2 AA alkaline batteries, the AW2H lock will function for around 1 year before the low battery warning is indicated.
Low Battery Warning
There is a visual warning when the batteries are running low, this is given to the staff cards, ensuring your guests are not inconvenienced.
Power Supply Terminal
In the unlikely event of the batteries running out completely, there is an external power supply connection, so that power can be directly supplied to the lock.
Infrared Programming
Using the standard infrared port, communication to the AW2H lock is fast and easy, both for programming and retrieving the audit data.
Audit Trail
Provides a record of the last 200 valid card entries as well as the last 100 error logs, so that you can track activity associated with the lock
Non-volatile Memory
Retains the data when batteries are removed, keeping your lock software and audit data safe.
Resin coated card reader
The one piece card reader has been designed for easy maintenance, this includes a dust shutter and the main board being coated with a layer of resin, ensuring a reliable operation for both your guests and staff.
K-series AW2H FDS (Front Desk System)
Function
MIWA's Front Desk System is a versatile key control system. The system can encode magnetic cards, providing the flexibility to suit the needs of every property and guest, giving multiple guestcard types, as well as sophisticated master keying structures. Three encoders can be networked together using TCP/IP protocols.
Colour Screen
For ease of use, the FDS encoder has a colour screen display.
AW2H DCU (Door Control Unit/Elevator Control Unit) - Option
Function
For applications where a standard AW2H lock is not suitable, such as a high usage common door, MIWA's Door Control Unit will provide the security needed.
The DCU can:
- Operate magnetic locks, electrified panic bars, electric strikes or other locking devices
- Work in conjunction with the control circuits of elevators, car park barriers and similar devices.
MIWA AL5H
The AL5H lock has passed the ANSI 156.25 lock standard making it a true Grade 1 electronic mortise lock which is manufactured in our ISO 9001, ISO14001 certified factories in Japan.
The AL5H lock systems from a company where quality and service still counts.
Infrared Programming
Communication to the AL5H lock for programming and interrogating is fast easy and proficient using the standard infrared port. There are no programming cables to lose or break for this system.
Light and sound notification
When the guest enters the room, the locks’ light turns green to confirm lock opening. Guest cards can be programmed so that the lock also emits an audible signal confirming the opening of the lock, ideal for sight-impaired guests.
Dust Shutter
Whether installed inside or out, insert locks have problems regarding collecting dust; the AL5H lock has a shutter in the front of the reader that is closed whilst the lock is not in use preventing unwanted dust and dirt from entering the heart of the lock. When a card is inserted, the shutter is raised allowing access to the reader, as the card is pulled out the shutter closes immediately behind it.
Card lock variation
Lever handle variation
Landed Technology
The smart card reader is utilising the more reliable landed reader technology, this helps to extend the life of the smart card as well the Readerheads themselves.
Low battery warning
There is nothing worse for a guest than to get to their room and be unable to open the door. Often this is due to staff overlooking changing the batteries in the lock; with the AL5H locking system we have three different warnings should a lock’s batteries be getting low. First, when a staff card is used, the green light will flash, also an audible warning is emitted. In case these are not noticed when auditing the staff cards each lock that card has been used in writes its battery level status.
Option (Lock Unit for External Installation)
This special lock has been designed for installations in outdoor or harsh environment, such as coastal areas. The reader is coated with resin, providing protection to the essential electronics.
A Hotel Manager’s Dream…
Today’s hoteliers expect much more than a lock that keeps their doors securely shut. The MIWA AL5H, with its smart card capability, is your building block to a comprehensive hotel security system. It provides you with unparalleled reliability today and unlocks the potential of your smart card applications tomorrow.
Designed to read magnetic cards, memory and processor smart cards. The AL5H combines superior mechanism with a state of the art electronics package, offering you the benefits of:
-
Ease of use
The magnetic card reader within the lock is designed to read cards whether inserted slowly or quickly; better reading means less red light for the guests helping to enhance their stay at your property. -
Guests’ security
All of the AL5H lock cases have a ¾ inch latch, 1 inch dead bolt and an anti-pick latch that presents the lock case from being tampered with whilst the door is closed. -
Lock Audit Trail
Each lock stores the last 200 transactions, for the average guest room this equates to over a months worth of entries. Each staff and guest card has a unique ID so all cards can be tracked back to time and date of use. -
Staff Card Audit
Each time a staff card is used in a lock not only does lock record this transaction in its memory it also writes it back on to the staff card itself. Staff cards hold the last 100 door openings; this information can be audited to show exactly where and when it has been used. -
The Future
All Miwa AL5H locks have a built in interface on the motherboard for future upgrades such as wireless on line locking or energy management interfaces, thus protecting your investment.
AL5H K-Series Front Desk System
Miwa’s K-Series Front Desk System is a versatile key control system. The system can encode magnetic and smart (IC) cards, providing the flexibility to suit the needs of every property and guest, giving multiple guest card types, as well as sophisticated master keying structures. As with all the K-Series systems you can audit both the card lock (the last 600 door openings) and with the use of a smart (IC-Processor) card, you can audit the last 140 of the card usage.
Three encoders can be networked together using TCP/IP protocols. A maximum of ten encoders can be networked together with a connecting PC.
As the unit can operate standalone, it has a built in lock programmer / interrogator. Having interrogated a lock, it is then possible to either print the data to a local printer or connect to a PC for more in depth reporting.
CE Front Desk System
Miwa’s MS Windows CE based encode provides a sophisticated key control system. Using a big touch screen panel, this front desk system will encode both magnetic and smart (IC) cards, giving the versatility to suit the needs of every property and guest, with multiple guest card types, as well as a flexible master keying structure. 5 CE encoders can be networked together, providing support for up to 5000 room. As with all of Miwa’s front desk systems, these units are PMS interface ready. The separate DTU (Data Transfer Unit) communicates via infrared with both the CE encoders and the locks, allowing for fast and secure data communication, providing both interrogation and audit data.
K-Series ME System
Miwa’s PC based “KeyServer” software operates on the MS Windows 2000 and XP Platforms, making this system ideal for larger hotels. Using both magnetic and smart (IC) cards, it provides a secure and flexible key card solution for both guests and staff. Up to 30 K-ME motor encoders can be networked together when operating with 3 PC’s, providing support for 5000 rooms. KeyServer, as with all of Miwa’s front desk systems, is PMS interface ready and the K-ME encoders are capable of dual-track encoding, allowing for the support of POS applications. When checking in guests are now given a Phillips “Mifare” card, this card only needs to be held near the lock to open the door.
Extremely Durable
As the system is based on contact less or proximity technology there is none of the usual wear and tear on either the front desk equipment or the locks themselves, this in turn increases the durability of the complete system.
High-Speed Interaction
The high communication speed, between the card and the lock, ensures user friendliness at all times. In fact the high read write speed of the Mifare technology has made it the leading choice in the transportation and hospitality industries throughout the world.
Guest Card Verification
On occasion, as with any hotel locking system, a guest will go to their room and the key will not open the lock. The ALVH however, does have an advantage over all other systems on the marker today as it comes with Guest Card Verification. When the guest arrives at the front desk the system can read their card and find out exactly why the lock did not open, this means that the problem can be resolved immediately, the first time, thus reducing the guests displeasure and frustration.
Lock Audit Trail
Each lock stores the last 200 transactions; this information can be retrieved, viewed and printed. Each staff and guest card used un the system has a unique ID so all cards can be tracked back to the time and date of use.
Staff Card Audit
Each time a staff card us used in a lock, not only does the lock record this transaction in its memory, it writes its own information and time of use back onto the staff card itself. Staff cards can hold up to the last 70 door openings; this information can be audited to show exactly where and when the card has been used.
Card lock variation
With a variety of finishes and lever handle options the ALVH can be tailored to fit your properties décor.

LED notification
When a valid card is presented to the lock, a green light is displayed for the duration of the time the door is unlocked. If an invalid card is present, the red light is displayed.
4 AA Alkaline batteries
The ALVH lock runs on a 4 standard AA Alkaline batteries, giving it approximately 18 months use. A low battery warning light is displayed when staff cards are used, enabling batteries to be changed before the batteries fail. A power override is available for locks should the batteries fail unexpectedly.
